Felony DWI, several traffic infractions in Potsdam Friday

POTSDAM -- Alexia N. Scarborough, 27, Potsdam, was issued six tickets at 10:31 p.m. by Potsdam police after patrol observed a vehicle traveling west on Elm Street with an inadequate exhaust, police said.

A traffic stop was initiated and police report the officer detected the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. Scarborough failed a series of roadside sobriety tests and refused to provide a roadside breath sample, police said.

A DMV check revealed that she has a court order for an ignition interlock device in the vehicle, but there was none, police said. The check also revealed that she had no valid New York license and a suspended Florida State driver’s license. The check indicated a previous alcohol-related conviction from 2016.

Scarborough was charged with inadequate exhaust, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle outside of an ignition interlock restriction, refusal to take breath test, and two felonies, aggravated unlicensed operation and a new driving while intoxicated charge.

She is to appear in Potsdam Town Court on April 25.

POTSDAM -- Cristian Mendoza, 22, Canton, was issued a ticket for alleged failure to yield right of way on a left turn Market Street to Sandstone Drive ay 8:07 p.m. Friday. The infraction charged came after an investigated a report of a two-car property damage accident. Mendoza was found to be at fault for the accident, police said.

POTSDAM -- Claire E. Kershko, 25, Brookline, Mass., allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign while turning right at Washington and Market sreets at 11:48 a.m. Friday, and was issued a ticket.

POTSDAM -- Ezra T. Cushing, 21, Gilson State, N.H., was issued an appearance ticket by Potsdam Police after a patrol allegedly heard him yelling at 2:25 a.m. Friday on Market Street.
