POTSDAM -- A SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse player from Canton has earned All-State University of New York Athletic Conference honors. Senior captain Murphy Newman was named to the all-conference third team.
Newman recorded 52 points to lead the team on 45 goals and seven assists this spring along with 12 ground balls, 10 draw controls and five caused turnovers. She ranked second in the SUNYAC in goals and eighth in points.
Newman closed out her three seasons in Potsdam as the program's fourth all-time leading scorer with 160 points on 137 goals and 23 assists.
She ranks third in goals and ninth in assists all-time. Newman was also on the conference's third team last season.
