CANTON -- Village police are issuing a warning to village residents to lock their vehicles, whether parked on the streets and in their driveways.

The Canton Police Department has received roughly a dozen calls for items being stolen from unlocked vehicles during the past two weeks. Articles are being removed in late evening or early morning.

Various articles including cash, credit cards, GPS locators and other personal items have been reported taken during these entries. Some vehicles were reportedly ransacked but nothing was known to be taken.

Police are asking that people who may have had items stolen to contact the department in hopes that a suspect or suspects may be identified by comparing the individual cases. And it would be useful should any property be recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to call village police at 386-4561.
