CANTON – An Akwesasne woman was jailed Sunday for allegedly stealing car in 2011.
Teresa M. Johnson, 21, was charged for unauthorized use of a vehicle without the owner’s consent in connection with the vehicle theft fro the Eels Road reported to state police Nov. 24, 2011, troopers said.
She was arrested Monday at St. Regis Tribal Police Department, Racquette Point Road, officers said.
The vehicle was later recovered by the Akwesasne Mohawk Police and returned to its owner, police said.
Police said she was sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $1,000 bail.
She will answer the charge in Canton Town Court Dec. 11 at 1:30 p.m., troopers said.
