Two women arrested for assault in Potsdam, Canton man charged with criminal contempt

Two Potsdam women have been arrested for assault and other infractions and a Canton man has been charged with criminal contempt in unrelated cases.

State police arrested Melanie A. Stone, 27, Potsdam, for second degree assault-intent to cause physical injury at 11:05 p.m. Monday at 1953 Morley-Potsdam Road. She was also charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration second degree and second degree harassment-physical contact.

Meanwhile, Rebecca Chase, 51, Potsdam, was charged with third degree assault and third degree menacing at 6:01 p.m. Monday in connection with in incident in Hermon reported on Nov. 2, police said.

Patrick F. Whitehill, 20, Canton, was held Monday after being charged with first degree criminal contempt-telephones, a felony, at 4:28 p.m., police said.
