Morristown teen arrested for DWI, other infractions for rollover crash that sends 5 to hospital

MORRISTOWN – A Morristown teen has been arrested for drunk driving and other infractions for her part in a roll-over crash that sent five to the hospital this weekend.

According to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies, Angel L. Carter, 18, Morristown, was charged Sunday charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and endangering the welfare of a child.

More charges are possible, deputies said today.

She was the driver of a vehicle that left the road as it rounded a curve, overturned and struck a tree at 3:06 a.m. Saturday as she was traveling south on NYS Hwy. 37, deputies said.

Five of the seven occupants were taken by the Morristown and Ogdensburg rescue squads to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, for treatment of their injuries, deputies said.

Other occupants in the vehicle included Elizabeth D. Whalen, 17, Morristown, Rachel M. White, 17, Morristown, Shawn M. Kennedy, 21, Heuvelton, Scott M. Sharpes, 19, Heuvelton, and Natalie A. Evans, 16, Ogdensburg, deputies said.
