WADDINGTON – Potsdam and Norfolk men were jailed late last week for allegedly breaking into the Waddington village barns and stealing water meters, copper and other metals.

St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies charged Corey P. Deshane, 29, of 614 Sissonville Rd., Potsdam, and Jeremiah D. Deshane, 25, of 73 West Main St., Norfolk, with third degree burglary, fourth degree grand larceny and third degree criminal mischief, all felonies.

Deputies said the men broke into the village barns some time in August and sold the metal to scrap metal dealers.

Some of the items have been recovered, deputies said.

The men were arraigned before Canton Town Justice William Magin, who committed Jeremiah Deshane to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail and Corey Deshane on no bail.

Investigating officer was Detective Sgt. Gus Burns.
