POTSDAM -- A special Clarkson University Environmental Forum, featuring Katherine "Kit" Kennedy, New York State Special Deputy Attorney General for Environmental Protection, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the university's Cheel Campus Center.

At this forum, co-sponsored by New York State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo and Clarkson, Kennedy will speak about the legal fight against global warming and other elements of the Attorney General's environmental agenda. A question and answer session will follow her presentation.

The event is free and open to the public.

Kennedy is chief of the Attorney General's Environmental Protection Bureau.

The bureau enforces state and federal environmental laws, defends state agencies when sued on environmental matters, and recovers the costs incurred in state hazardous waste cleanups.

Recent initiatives include legal action to slow global warming, reduce pollution from coal-fired power plants, clean up contaminated sites, and improve water quality and protect the Great Lakes.
