Norwood woman drives into Potsdam utility pole after trying to pick up item dropped on floor in car

POTSDAM – A Norwood woman was ticketed Wednesday after her vehicle struck a utility pole when she dropped an item on the floor and tried to pick it up while driving.
Village police charged Nicole C. Hawkins, 26, Norwood, with moving from lane unsafely and aggravated unlicensed operator third degree at 10:20 a.m. following the accident on Larnard Street.
The impact from the crash caused the utility pole to snap in two, police said. The Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
