Grasse River Players set auditions Dec. 5, 6, 7 for February comedy production

CANTON -- Grasse River Players have set auditions for their Canton Winterfest production of the comedy “Enchanted April” by Matthew Barber from the novel by Elizabeth Von Arnim.

Auditions will be held Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Canton Unitarian Universalist Church social room, and on Monday, Dec. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the church’s room downstairs.

Dorothy Mallam, who has directed such memorable Canton theater events as “Arsenic and Old Lace” and “She Stoops to Conquer,” will direct this delightful comedy set in London and Mezzago, Italy, just after World War I.

The cast is of five women, young to older, and three men, young to middle age, but no one need worry about being “the right age.” A copy of the script may be checked out overnight from the Canton Free Library.

Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11, 12 and 13 in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church on the Park.

All are welcome at auditions even if you are not interested in auditioning. People are needed for the many jobs that go into putting on a production: set work, costumes, and so on.
