Zion Episcopal Church in Colton holding Festival of Lessons and Carols service Sunday

There is an ad in the December 12th edition of North Country This Week for Zion Episcopal Church’s Festival of Lessons and Carols service for Sunday, December 16th where the starting time is incorrect.

This starting time for this service will be at 5 pm, not 4 pm.

I take responsibility for not closely monitoring the proof. The ad is on p 9B. All other information is correct.

In addition to this ad North Country This Week published a press release for both the Festival of None Lesson and Carols and Zion’s December 24th service. That release can be found on 2B.

There will be an ad in the December 18th edition for this service. A reminder - Zion Episcopal Church is located at 91 Main Street, Colton. NY.

However that press release was not published in full and it is important that the information edited out be publicized as follows:

In this season of giving it is noted that one of Zion’s mission’s is to tithe its pledge, plate and interest income. This is done on a monthly basis. In the past few years more than $35,000 has been given to local organizations, individuals in need, the back pack program for Colton-Pierrepont, the Zion Scholarship for Colton Pierrepont, Helping Hands, Two Rivers Ecumenical Council, Renewal House, the new Grace House in Canton, to name a few, and for national and international needs. On the national level giving is channeled through organizations respected by the congregation for their judicious use of funds such as Doctors Without Borders and Episcopal Relief and Development. Through that fund Zion has been able to help with Haiti, Hurricanes Sandy and Harvey and many others. One of Zion’s most poignant donations over the years was to St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sandy Hook, Connecticut. St. John’s shares the neighboring property with Sandy Hook Elementary School. They are backyard neighbors without fences.

Zion is on the National Register of Historic Places and part of its mission is to maintain this sacred property. Come and enjoy the beauty, simplicity, and the majesty of Zion this December. For further information contact the Reverend Patricia LaVine, Deacon 315-353-2331. All regulars Sunday services are at 9:30 am.
