To the Editor:
I read about, with interest, the forming of YESeleven. Are they from this planet? I want to thank them for sentencing St. Lawrence County to permanent Appalachia. In what century do they think merchants will allow them to bypass their village? (Canton, Potsdam, Malone, Gouverneur and Rouses Point) Are they planning on keeping driving through Philadelphia at 30 mph, Antwerp at 40 mph, Dekalb Junction, 35 mph, Sanfordville at 30 mph, Lawrenceville at 35 mph, Moira, Brushton, N. Bangor, Ellenberg Depot, etc.
Are they going to bypass the 5 stoplights by Ft. Drum? How about all the stoplights outside their bypasses? Aren’t stores and gas stations just going to relocate and prolong the problem? How many of YESeleven has a vested interest (land) on Rt. 11 or near these bypasses? Or are they just trying to torpedo progress sentencing our children and grandchildren to move to Rochester or Texas or California where they have better transportation. Or are they sentencing us to permanently follow an Amish buggy at 13 mph, a hay wagon at 15 mph or a honey wagon dripping its honey at 10 mph?
An interstate would cut down on accidents! Are they willing to sentence 4 times the people to fatal accidents and 10 times to the people to other accidents? I’m a retired person with no interest other than faster transportation to Syracuse, Montreal, and Burlington! Does YESeleven just want to torpedo an interstate? It reminds me of the rome-Plattsburgh Air Force Base closure debate with Rome putting down Plattsburgh and Plattsburgh putting down Rome and they ended up closing both bases.
