To the Editor:
I would welcome the opportunity to serve as Waddington’s town supervisor for the next four years. I have worked with three different town supervisors from 1969 through 1988. They were J. Ernest Burke, R. Bruce Pemberton, and J. Albert Wright. I learned valuable lessons from each of them. Those were the lean years before Power Authority stipends and excess land to sell. We worked diligently to keep taxes down. That will be my first priority.
While on the campaign trail, I have thoroughly enjoyed re-connecting with life-long residents and meeting many new residents. They expressed to me that they like Waddington “just the way it is,” the very reason they chose to stay or live here. They enjoy the river, the quaint small village, the peaceful setting, the central location and the friendly people who come together to support local events. These statements have convinced me that Waddington sells itself.
Going forward, there will be challenges big and small, but with a common-sense approach, I will encourage and promote progress and development that support our values as a community.
In honor of the men and women who continue to serve this country so we can have the great privilege to vote, please cast your ballot Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the municipal building from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
I would appreciate your support.
