‘White Cane Sale’ raises over $1,300 for Lions Club

To the Editor:

Members of the Potsdam Lions Club took to the streets of Potsdam on Sept. 25-26 and Oct. 2-3, to raise funds as part of the annual White Cane Sale.

Potsdam Lions raised over $1,300 thanks to the generous support from the community. Funds will be used to provide vision screening for preschoolers, used eyeglasses recycling, free public skating at Pine Street Arena over the holidays & Lions Park maintenance.

Money raised will allow Lions to meet pressing needs in our community including purchasing a new vision screener for screening preschoolers’ vision and helping to provide Thanksgiving baskets to families in need in the Potsdam area, among many other projects.

Lions members thank everyone who contributed to this important work. We extend a special thank you to IGA on Elm Street, Kinney’s on outer Market Street, Kinney’s on Maple Street, and Walmart for allowing us to conduct our annual White Cane Sale in front of your businesses. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community.”

The Potsdam Lions Club has 25 members and meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6pm at Half-Tons Sports Bar & Grill. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
