To the Editor:

The Potsdam Lions Club just completed their 2017 White Cane Days Fundraiser, held over the past two weekends in Potsdam, which supports facilities that give needed assistance to the blind and sight impaired.

The Lions wish to thank all the generous and caring donators who helped the Lions raise $1,380 in monetary assistance for the support of the following organizations that provide important services to those living with vision loss:

Leader Dogs for the Blind- training guide dogs for empowerment and independence, Sight Society of Northeastern NY/Albany NY Eye Bank- cornea transplants, North Country Association for the Visually Impaired, Lions Eye Institute in Albany County NY for vision loss research and treatment, and the local Potsdam Lions Vision Care Assistance Services and Youth Vision Screening in area schools.

The Potsdam Lions also Thank the fine local stores that kindly allowed the Lions White Cane Fundraiser to be conducted at their store sites: Walmart on Rt 11, Lavigne's IGA on Elm St. Kinney Drugs at Maple and Market St. locations. Additionally, the Lions thank local radio station B99.3FM for promoting the fundraising event to the community and to raise awareness of the need to support humanitarian organizations that offer aid to the blind and sight impaired.

We appreciate everyone's joint partnership, as we help to improve the lives of those afflicted with vision loss, and facing daily challenges.

Helen Keller once said, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." Thank you for doing so much!

If you missed giving during the White Cane Fundraiser, further donations may be mailed to Potsdam Lions Club, PO Box 723, Potsdam, NY 13676
