To the Editor:

My name is Eric Matott. I am seeking one of the vacant seats for Potsdam Town Councilman. I am in the race as a “write in” candidate.

For those who do not understand what a “write in” candidate means, it is quite simple, my name will not appear on the ballot unless you write me in on the ballot for your vote. If you are unsure how to do this at the time of voting do not hesitate to ask one of the voting staff. They will gladly assist you. Every vote counts.

I will make this simple on what I represent.

Do we want a board of just decision makers, budget creators, and committee organizer?

Or…Do we want all the above coupled with passion, high energy listener, go getter, people’s person, visionary, small business owner, and optimist that desires to realign community living, small businesses, the colleges, and our governments in order to bring growth and sustainability through togetherness.

This is lacking in our village, town, and community to point where we don’t have an identity that we can lead our visions to. This creates thinking “inside the box” instead of using all the resources, voices, and ideas from our community, business leaders, taxpayers, and citizens that will allow us to think “outside the box”.

We have the abilities but it takes someone to make this ambition very real. This is a large pledge of changing the way we do business by simply coming together and creating. I will excel in doing this and this will allow our boards to implement and improve their overall functioning on behalf of the people.
