Washo is dedicated to the greater good, says Canton resident

To the Editor:

Are you tired of same old, same old when it comes to the Town of Canton politics, policies, lack of progress with respect to: economic advancement, saving money through energy and sustainability initiatives and overall transparency and responsiveness to citizens' concerns? I certainly am!

Although I live in the Town and not the Village of Canton, as an interested citizen, I serve on the Village Sustainability Committee and have watched in dismay as the Town of Canton consistently passes up opportunity after opportunity to foster economic development and sustainability and even declined to support a Town/Village of Canton Sustainability Committee.

This volunteer Village committee has been extremely active and is responsible for the Local Food, Local Places grant that the Village received and for the Solarize Canton Campaign among other initiatives. These both are critical steps forward for Canton and represent means of economic development and cost savings for citizens.

Bob Washo, who is running for Town Board, has convened the Village of Canton Sustainability Committee for the past year. Under his leadership these initiatives have come to fruition. Bob has demonstrated that he cares. He takes the time to attend Village and Town Board meetings so that he can be informed and inform those who don't have the time to attend.

He is dedicated to transparency and the greater good, not to a personal agenda. He has vision, energy, experience and the knowledge needed to move the Town of Canton in the direction it needs to go if it is going to thrive economically, attract residents and grow in the directions it needs to grow.

If you'd like to see the Town of Canton move into the 21st Century, support transparency in Town Board deliberations, care at all about sustainability and economic development related to local food and energy savings, join me in voting for Bob Washo for Town Board on election day!
