To the Editor:

I am very disappointed at the attitude that so many displayed toward HEAP recipients.

I wonder if the writers of the critical and/or demeaning comments are aware that many recipients are families with a parent or sometimes even two parents working at minimum wage jobs.

Others are the disabled or elderly.

Very few are gaming or ripping off the system.

I wonder who those so critical of HEAP recipients will feel if they find themselves in a position where they have to apply.
