Waddington trustee candidate wants budget under tax cap

To the Editor:

After serving on the village board in Waddington for the past year and a half, I’ve decided to seek a full term on the board.

In that short period of time, I’ve been an advocate for the taxpayers, making it known from the very second we began discussion on our budget that I would like to see it come in under the tax cap.

I’ve also strived to think through each decision made and cast my vote in line with what I feel is best for the entire community.

Since my appointment to the board in May of 2015, I have not missed a meeting and should I be elected this fall I would actually be the second longest tenured member of the board behind our mayor, as the board has seen some turnover in recent years.

While my time on the board may only date back to 2015, my dedication to the community extends much further than that. I have been a member of the Waddington Homecoming Committee for more than five years and am also a member of Waddington Masonic Lodge #393. My wife Jamie and I have also been volunteers with the Make-A-Wish Foundation working with children from St. Lawrence County since 2011.

Waddington is a community blessed with a core of citizens constantly working to come up with both small-scale and large-scale events. This year the community will host a revamped Christmas in Waddington Celebration and in 2017 the Bassmaster Elite series will once again return.

These are exciting times for our village and I look forward to working alongside the citizens of our community, fellow board members and the mayor for many years to come.

I truly believe Waddington is the crown jewel of St. Lawrence County and I hope you, the voters, will afford me the opportunity to continue serving the village I love and lend me your support on Nov. 8.
