Voting for Stefanik is a vote for our future

To the Editor:

I started college in 1969 during the protest years. Kent State massacre, long hair, Woods tock, free love, March on DC, hippies, Viet Nam protests and marijuana…yep…this was my generation.

Most of us went thru life having good careers and have tried to make a difference, hopefully for the better, for life in our Country and our World.

I’m now 64 years old. I still feel that I have a lot of “fight” left in me. However, I do worry more each day for the future of my children and our ten granddaughters. I ask myself daily; what have I done to leave them a “promise in life?” Unfortunately I do not feel that I have left them enough.

I have a chance maybe to make a small change for their future.

Elise Stefanik is a 30 year-old woman who wants to try to make a difference for Northern New York and our country’s future. My generation has had 40 years to make changes. We all have our opinions of George Bush, Bill and Hillary Clinton and let’s not forget Barack Obama. I feel that it is time for someone closer to my children’s and grandchildren’s age to try to plan the future for this area and our Country.

Let’s not forget all the good that former Congressman David Martin brought to our area. Congressman Martin was 36 years old when he first took office in 1980.

It’s time for a change. I believe that my children and grandchildren are going to struggle more during their working careers than my wife and I did during our “growing years.”

I hope my vote for Elise Stefanik will give my family members a better chance of “the dream” that my family was given and got to enjoy during our growing life time years.
