Vote for practical, real-world ideas to make county better, says Norwood man

To the Editor:

Beware of candidates for the St Lawrence County Legislature who claim that electing a Democratic majority and members like Jason Clark of Norfolk will some how make Interstate 98 reality.

The facts are simple.

For most of the past eight years the Democrats have controlled the governor's mansion, both US Senate seats, the congressional seat and the county legislature and they have failed to deliver their multibillion dollar pipe dream.

Meanwhile, they have allowed our roads and bridges to deteriorate while they have repeatedly raised taxes and squandered our fund balance.

Four years ago, Governor Cuomo marched with his fellow Democrats in Ogdensburg's Seaway Festival Parade wearing his I-98 pin, promising to support this foolish idea. Since he's been elected, he's repeatedly refused to fund I-98 or even urge his fellow federal Democrats to fund it.

As a standard operating practice to local Democrats, he asked the State Department of Transportation to study it, even though everyone knows it's been studied to death for 20 years.

Realistic voters should realize that handing public money from hard-working taxpayers to people like Jason Clark and his Democratic clique is nothing more than an elaborate con game that allows these people to promote themselves in the guise of job creation and economic development.

Common sense Republican candidates for the St Lawrence County Legislature believe we need to invest public infrastructure funds in real roads and bridges that Democrats have allowed to deteriorate while they play games with our hard-earned taxpayer dollars.

Voters need to vote for Republican candidates for the county legislature who offer practical, real-world ideas that can make life better for our residents and our children.

It's time for a change in November.

Vote Republican!
