To the Editor:
This November voters in the village of Potsdam will vote for two people to represent them on the village board. Eleanor Hopke has served the past four years and I urge voters to support her for another term. She will be listed on the Sense in Government party line.
Eleanor was willing to serve four years ago after being on the Dissolution Committee that researched the ramifications of dissolving the village. Like me, she learned a great deal about the workings of local government and felt it was a good time to come forward to serve. She has dedicated these past four years to learning about village issues and I support electing her to continue on the board.
Eleanor has worked for the village board to be more transparent. She is never afraid to ask a question and then go after the information needed before she makes a decision.
Besides her work with the village board, Eleanor has attended many, many town board meetings. She does not shy from efforts to have the two boards engage in cooperative dialogue on issues concerning the village and town.
I am encouraged that two new faces are ready to serve on the village board, but I would not want to lose the experience Eleanor brings to the table. She is ready to continue her work on the board and ready to help out the newcomer who will serve with her.
Vote for Eleanor Hopke this fall.
