Vote for Denesha, not Morrill for county, says Richville resident

Well, it is nearing election time and, in some cases, we have little to choose from. Tweedle-dee or Tweedle-dum. Some of the seats have candidates running unopposed. It would seem that there is a lot of apathy or that everything is just fine. But no, that is not the case; people are polarized and angry and, as my mother would have said, “fed up.” My dad used to say that many politicians were crooks and had some dramatic suggestions as to what would be an appropriate fate for most of them.

Well here is some good news. For those of us who live in the district, which encompasses Hermon, DeKalb and Clifton, there is a real breath of fresh air. Larry Denesha is a local man with strong roots in the community and has impressed me with his even-handed, logical and has practical sense of what is and what can be, here in our neighborhood and our county. Larry sees the cup more than half full and really appreciates what is good and positive about life here in the North Country. He once said to me that our community offers a great place to live and raise a family, moderate taxes, the possibility of home ownership and local recreation to its residents. He remarked about the quality of our local small school and hoped that others would see the treasure that our rural life style offers.

Unlike his opponent, he does not pretend to be an “economic developer” or look to advance his personal agenda. Without going into details, I think most of you understand what I mean. Larry does not suggest a silver bullet cure for our fiscal problems and understands that I-98 is a pipe dream. He knows the way to a balanced budget is to spend less money at the county level. Too, Larry is not a yes man and will not always tell you what you want to hear, but will listen and give thought to your concerns. I am confident he won’t always VOTE THE PARTY LINE. He is reachable, responsible, mature in his judgments and fair in his responses. Most importantly he will not just throw money at ever problem.

I generally vote as a Democrat and even helped in Mr. Morrill’s previous runs for office, but I am more than a little disappointed in the results of his tenure in office, In fact “I” am “fed up”.

The first thing my father did upon gaining citizenship was to register to vote. He came from a part of the world that couldn’t offer him that privilege, so he cherished it. He told me many times to vote with thought and I have tried to do that. I encourage you all to cherish your enfranchisement and go to the polls and vote.
