To the Editor,
The voters in the village of Canton are in an enviable position this election season. There are four candidates for two seats on the Village Board. Living in a small town, I’m sure they share many viewpoints. However, one candidate quickly rises to the top: Mike Dalton.
Mike currently sits on the Village Board and is well versed on the issues facing Canton. Mike attended Village Board meetings for ten years as an assistant chief, then as chief of Canton Fire and Rescue. Because he had a genuine interest, he continued to attend meetings. And due to his attendance at so many meetings, Mike was tapped to serve on the Village Planning Board. No other candidate has a better handle on what Canton needs as it looks to the future. When asked to serve, Mike didn’t hesitate for a minute. He rolled his sleeves up and jumped right in.
Mike has worked to ensure that the village is fiscally responsible. He helps audit the bills every month, and he helped create a purchasing system to maximize the village’s purchasing power. He worked hard to negotiate a contract with the DPW employees that was fair to both the employees and the taxpayer. Mike voted in favor of hiring Canton’s first female police chief.
Mike has worked well with the other board members, as well as the village staff. He has great attention to detail and has shown that he is willing to put in the considerable amount of time that the job requires.
When the election is over, we need a candidate that is ready to go. One who has experience. That person is Mike Dalton.
On Nov. 5 I urge you to vote for the best candidate for Canton Village Board. Vote for Mike Dalton.
