To the Editor:
The Higley Association wants to thank its members and the many area residents who attended and supported the annual ice cream social and fireworks event on Saturday night, bringing to a conclusion, celebration of the annual “Colton Day.”
The morning weather was far from promising but took a complete turnaround by late morning and continued for the remainder of the day, though there was a storm threatening at dusk – thank goodness it was just a threat!
The event has been a tradition for many years, offering an opportunity for the young and young at heart to gather to enjoy music, some sweets, conversation and of course, who doesn’t enjoy a fireworks display.
A special “thank you” to Nick Rycroft who, again this year, provided some great musical entertainment, our Colton Fire Department and rescue squad for being on hand to ensure everyone’s safety and the NYS Police for directing traffic after the event.
And, last, but far from least, thanks to all of our dedicated volunteers. Thank you everyone.
