To the Editor:
The Crary Mills playground is located at the corner of Post Road and Rt. 35 at the flashing light. It is a loving space for children and families to gather, play, and enjoy the fresh air.
A tall box elder is the central focal point in this small playground. It has shaded countless children squealing in delight as they swing, run and slide. The tire swing hanging there is a favorite playground entertainer.
Unfortunately, this tree has served its life and has become fraught with significant defects. The tree has lost branches and shows sign of rot. Given its location in the middle of the playground, this makes it a hazard to those playing.
The Crary Mills Playground Board wants to inform the public that this tree will be taken down on Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. Please come and witness the event and honor this long serving tree. We would like to see you there and, if interested, help us clean up.
Please take the time to enjoy the last days under the branches of this tree. In the spring, we hope to plant a new tree for future generations to enjoy.
If you are interested in volunteering or contributing to our tree fund, please contact the Playgound Board at 386-4341, or follow us on Facebook.
