In response to “Consolidation Needed” (Sound Off, June 15-21):
The following things are relatively clear:
1. You’re a chicken! (sign your name)
2. You live in the village of Potsdam
3. You are illogical
I never have nor would I ever live in the village of Potsdam!
When I have business to conduct at the Town Hall, I’m inconvenienced by the fact that the town offices are located within the village limits.
I have to drive through the “village of potholes” and 15 minutes of lights to get from the north side to the south side.
So how is it that I have been benefiting from this entity that you now expect me to pay for?
If it’s within your realm of capabilities, be realistic. If you want dissolution, fine, so do I.
Why do you believe it’s logical for me to have to pay for you to have services I don’t?
It is undemocratic for the rest of us to not have a say in whether or not there’s dissolution since we are expected to pick up the monetary burden.
I would vote for dissolution under the following conditions:
1. Fee for services for people living within the village limits
2. Reduction of employees in all areas of overlap
3. Closing of all village government offices
4. Compliant tax structure for private university held property
5. Total phase out of the village police
