Town office move goes smoothly with help

To the Editor:

I have never been more proud of being involved in Town Government than I was on Friday, March 2 when the Town Office at 35 Market St. was temporarily moved to 12 Elm St.

For two weeks prior to the move, the staff (Town Clerk Cindy Goliber and her Deputy, Karen McCallister; Supervisor Regan and her Administrative Assistant/Treasurer, Peggy Brusso; Assessor James Snyder and his Deputy Jo-Ann Graham; Data Collector Devon Korn; Code Enforcement Officer James Plumley; Court Clerk Mary-Jo Guyette and her Assistant Sheri Stone) had boxed files, packed office supplies, and labeled every piece of furniture from two floors so that it could be appropriately placed in the correct offices in our new quarters. They did all this without inconveniencing Town citizens, keeping the Town Office open except for Friday, the day of the move, and Monday when we unpacked and set up for business.

John Keleher, Superintendent of Highways, Jeff Mason, Mark Bradish, Wayne Andrus, Dennis Keleher, Adrian Bates, Larry Daggett, Dave Grant, Mike Bonno, and John Bates spent hours moving each office’s contents so carefully and then placing them in the correct owners’ offices.

This was done so efficiently that it made it very easy for our staff to get settled. We also are grateful to Bob Robar, Doug Murray, and Mike Collins who held the fort back at the Town Barn. Thank you also to Clarkson for lending us some moving equipment.

What these people did was certainly not spelled out as a duty in their union contracts! Their generosity saved taxpayers several thousands of dollars.

I am so proud of all of those who helped; each of them showed that they were true civil servants.

Marie C. Regan
