Town board candidate Washo is energetic and hardworking, says Canton resident

To the Editor:

I was thrilled when I learned Bob Washo was running for a seat on the Canton Town Board. Bob is an energetic and hardworking local farmer.

He and his partner, Maria 'Flip' Fillipi, have transformed several acres of previously idle land on the Minor Street Road into littleGrasse Foodworks, a productive and beautiful CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm.

Their farm business operation provides healthful vegetables and meat plus hands-on food production teaching and experience to around 150 local residents, me included.

In addition to being a leader in the local food movement, Bob is chair of the Canton Sustainability Committee. This group is developing practical solutions with a long-range perspective to local community and economic development issues. The Solarize Canton project is a result of the work of this committee under Bob's leadership.

I can't think of a better person to have on our town board than Bob Washo, and urge local citizens to vote for him on Nov. 3.
