There are no issues with attitudes of North County residents, says Massena resident

In response to “Response to Pokemon Go Sums Up Attitudes in North Country, says Canton man,” which ran online on NorthCountryNow.com on July 14: the writer is upset that some authorities are warning people to behave like mature, respectful adults when they are playing an online kid’s game based on strange little creatures created by someone in Japan years ago.

Other than his feeling the need to castigate adults for asking other adults to act like…uh, adults, Mr. Miller makes rather inane, foolish and childish statements like “the majority of people in the North Country are just bitter and sad people.”

Really?

Or how about this gem: “…’everybody's life sucks here'. You really can, because up here no one ever looks happy, no one is ever friendly. I have been all over the country, the world, and this area is the worst.”

Really? Really?

This is your attitude because people are asking you and others to act like adults when you are playing a children’s game?

No, the problem isn’t the attitude of North Country people. In fact, I have talked to many, many visitors who roundly praise the people of our area. Those visitors acknowledge we are fortunate to live in a physically beautiful corner of the world, but the thing that impresses them most is the way they are treated by the people who live here.

So, as you run around the country and, perhaps, the world chasing cartoon characters with your cell phone, rest assured that your assessment of the North Country and its people is totally and completely wrong.

And it’s not based in reality, like those little characters that apparently are extremely important to you and the folks who live in your fantasy universe.

You know those game pieces aren’t real, right?

Uh-oh, I’m sorry if I ruined things for you…I guess I just have a bad attitude because I love life in the North Country.
