To the Editor:
We are so very fortunate to live in the town of Norwood!
Two of our children participated in the Norwood-Norfolk Central School District After School Enrichment Program this summer - they went to the 4H Fishing Camp at Brasher Falls Central School during the week of July 21-24.
What fun they had, learning about the proper techniques for fishing, and then taking a final fishing field trip to put their skills to use. They both came home with new backpacks, and my son even won a fishing pole! This program has helped them appreciate fishing as a sport and leisure activity.
There were several other opportunities for summer learning - Robotics camp and SUNY Potsdam Arts Summer Program - among others, that our children were accepted into, but our schedule did not permit their attendance.
What a gift to have such great opportunities available to local schoolchildren during the summer!
I would like to thank Laura Gutenmann, Program Leader, and every single person involved in making these programs possible. Your time and concern is much appreciated, and I hope these types of programs are available for many summers to come.
