To the Editor:

In response to “Waddington Taser Incident Illustrates How People's Rights at Border Patrol Checkpoints Are In a Legal Gray Area,' To Todd Jewell, Acting Division Chief, Swanton, sir, I respect your determination at keeping terrorists out of our country as your primary function and that you take it seriously.

I do think though that your agents in the field need to see black and white not grey while dealing with our local citizens. Having established that Jessica Cooke was a U.S. citizen and was carrying a valid NY state drivers license and was a local would clearly prove to anyone that she was not an imported jihadist.

Therefore holding, assaulting and Tasing her seems beyond the bounds of your protocol for dealing with local, young, woman.

Having a young wife and teen aged daughter that travel this great big county of St. Lawrence frequently I am rather quite worried at their safety. Road hazards, deer and weather are usually what we worry about. A terrorist wearing a border patrol uniform seems now to be at the top of my worry list.

Please educate your underlings that we locals are just like their family members, precious to us, as it were.
