Get out the sun screen and prepare to stay hydrated as St. Lawrence County should experience hot temperatures today with heat index values of 90 degrees expected today, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Skies will be partly sunny today with a high near 85, but heat index values will make it feel even warmer than that, the service says. There will be a southwest wind of 9 to 13 mph.

High pressure will give away to a series of fronts increasing our chances for showers and thunderstorms heading into the weekend.

There will be periods of breaks in the rainfall and so none of the days are expected to be a washout although brief locally moderate rainfall will be possible.

Temperatures will remain near normal with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and lows in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
