To the Editor:
I’m responding to your article on page 4 “Troopers Getting Tasers for Training, Tryout” (May 4-10). The article is incorrect in stating that these systems are safer to use for violent people. There have been three deaths from the use of these “cattle prods,” all with men that had pace makers inserted in their chests. These so called tasers produce the same charge as “cattle prods,” that’s why they work so well on cattle.
Police persons have enough weapon, guns, clubs, handcuffs, pepper spray, etc. They don’t need more weapons to hurt and kill people.
A person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. It’s a violent world out there and police don’t need to make it worse for themselves.
