Symbolic ‘Move the World’ event strengthens links

To the Editor:

On Saturday, July 10, the past met the future at Clarkson University during an exciting event called “We Move the World,” where alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members came together to pass the Clarkson “Earth ball” from Downtown Snell Hall to Clarkson’s new Student Center.

“We Move the World” is meant to symbolize the strong link between Clarkson University and the Potsdam community, as well as the connection between the past and future of Clarkson and Potsdam.

The activity began at 1 p.m., where the six-foot-high Earth ball, replicating the Earth and sporting an image of Clarkson’s Golden Knight, was lifted into the air with the help of Clarkson President Tony Collins onto the waiting hands of many volunteers.

We have started a tradition that will continue every year during Potsdam’s summer fest and Clarkson University’s alumni weekend. On behalf of Clarkson University, we would like to thank everyone who attended and helped us move the world.
