To the Editor:
Kudos to our local enforcement officials for putting up additional surveillance cameras around St. Lawrence County.
We should have no fear of being recorded in public places, stores and store surroundings. Besides their intended purposes, they add to our general safety in many ways.
They’re rather expensive, I know, but I would pay a few extra tax dollars to add even more of them.
It’s of no consequence that they are located in unspecified locations, or even that they can be placed to different temporary locations. A person not breaking the law has absolutely nothing to fear from them. It is of no consequence that some people don’t like being recorded in public places either.
We owe it to our society in general to do things to get rid of the criminal element in our midst; this is one step in the right direction.
