To the Editor:

There is a primary vote coming up June 24 that can have a significant impact on our North Country community.

Republicans will choose a candidate to vie for the seat to the 21st Congressional district.

I have met with Elise Stefanik a number of times over the past few months and I am very impressed. She is intelligent, well educated (Harvard), articulate and personable. Those qualities are not what has impressed me the most however.

I am most impressed with her direct honesty. When questioned she is not evasive, does not “spin” her answers and does not make up answers to suit her questioner. Honesty is the most important attribute I look for in a candidate. All too often I cannot find this attribute in any of the candidates.

Elise Stefanik is a rare find. We need someone we can trust to give us honest representation. It would be so nice to go back to the good old days of representation similar to that of John McHugh.

Please get out and cast your vote on June 24.
