To the Editor:
Apparently, the Republican candidate for County Legislator in District 1 does not care about truth and integrity. Why else would he knowingly lie to the people in his district and say that the St. Lawrence County Legislature “ratified” the NY SAFE Act.
First of all, the law was passed by the New York State Legislature on January 15, 2013, and was signed into law by the Governor. Does Don Hooper even know how government works?
Second, the St. Lawrence County Legislature asked the State Legislature and Governor to fix the law shortly after it came out, by way of a resolution.
When that did not occur in the 6 months that we had hoped, we passed a resolution calling for the repeal of the NY SAFE Act.
To openly approve messages that are false and misleading to the public shows a lack of character and integrity on behalf of this candidate.
Please, vote for Sam Burns, he is a man of integrity and a man of his word.
