To the Editor:

The St. Lawrence County Historical Association recently held our 25th Annual Antique & Artisan Show and Sale at Canton’s McKenney Middle School April 25.

I would like to thank all of the many people who helped to make this show a huge success! Blanchard’s Auction Service, Potsdam, and Mort Backus & Sons, Ogdensburg, generously provided financial sponsorship. Various employees of Canton Central School, especially the custodial and cafeteria staff, were extremely helpful in dealing with all of the little issues that arose along the way.

More than 25 antique dealers and artisans participated in the event by setting up booths. Dunkin’ Donuts provided donuts and coffee, and Price Chopper allowed us to borrow shopping carts for the weekend to make moving in and out much easier. North Country Savings Bank provided luncheon napkins, and White’s Flowers generously loaned us floral centerpieces to beautify the luncheon area.

Terry & Paula Niles and their crew provided and served the delicious homemade soup and sandwiches that were enjoyed by all, followed by yummy desserts provided by SLCHA members.

Nancy Lafaver, of Lisbon, created the lovely Courthouse Steps quilt from reproduction 19th century fabrics, which is being raffled to benefit the SLCHA. Many friends of the SLCHA donated antiques and collectible items to our silent auction, ably organized and run by Catherine Dalton and her crew.

And countless other members and friends volunteered to help set up and run the show, hung up flyers and put out yard signs, sold raffle tickets, and simply attended the event to support the St. Lawrence County Historical Association. I am extremely grateful to all of these folks who were crucial in making the Antique & Artisan Show a success.
