St Lawrence County District Attorney candidate Rain cares for victims, was great police officer

To the Editor:

I’ve been following with great interest the campaign of Mary Rain, an old friend and law enforcement colleague, as she pursues the position of district attorney for St. Lawrence County.

I was Mary’s shift supervisor and training officer when she began her police career. From the very outset she displayed great professionalism as she trained and then became an outstanding law enforcement officer.

As one of the first female patrol officers in our area, she was very quickly accepted by all our patrolmen as someone who could be counted on in any situation. Mary showed expertise in many facets of police work, and most importantly, she always showed great compassion for the victims of crime. It was those victims who she worked the hardest for and rendered the utmost of service and care.

It was a loss to the police profession when Mary exchanged her badge for a law practice, where she has continued to serve the legal profession with great honor.

The citizens of St. Lawrence County would have a wonderful advocate for the criminal justice system by electing Mary Rain as their district attorney, and as her friend of many years I am proud to add my name to the many who know what a great job she would do.
