Safety and loud noise issues need to be addressed for next July 4 parade in Norwood, says former Norfolk man

To the Editor:

A big thanks from all who were able to attend the annual Fourth of July ceremonies in Norwood. First, thank you to Tina Garrow and her committee for the line up and running of the parade.

The cooperation between Americans and Canadians is very rewarding. Also participation of neighboring departments with a little disappointment that some rode instead of marched.

The special selection of the Hometown Diner and special recognition of Susan Perry were very well deserved.

The parade and activities show why many return to the Norwood community on this special day.

Just a couple suggestions for next year that people pass items instead of throwing them from floats and walkers as it is a safety issue.

Also to visiting departments with trucks that sirens and horns be silenced as there could be an emergency during the parade and no one would know.

Overall a great success and those who viewed the parade were rewarded by their attendance.
