Rupp works hard for all county taxpayers

To the Editor:

It truly amazes me that an unqualified person could even be appointed as St. Lawrence County Clerk, with qualifications of serving on a town Comprehensive Planning Board, and as chairman of the Democratic Committee, president of Potsdam Junior Hockey Association and manager of the U.S. women’s Olympic hockey team in 2006.

Gavin Regan walks in, his first day on the job, knowing he is going to “fire” the acting county clerk, with Mrs. Streeter knowing she is going to replace Mary Lou Rupp as deputy clerk. Tell me this wasn’t premeditated. What a callous act.

It only proves Mr. Regan needed Mary Lou Rupp out before election time. Not only did you fire Mary Lou Rupp because she was most qualified, she was a woman in your way. You did it for no reason and with no just cause.

Now, Cathy Streeter, the deputy clerk, is shedding tears because she knows it was Mr. Regan’s ploy to put Mary Lou Rupp out, while moving Cathy up. Cathy, do you really fear for your job or are you just looking for sympathy votes for Mr. Regan?

Mrs. Streeter, you have nothing to fear and please feel free to vote for Mary Lou Rupp and relax while getting your life back. Mary Lou is honest, very professional and the most qualified. One that can’t be bought or sold. Mary Lou Rupp is truly a first-class lady and you know it.

A well-known union leader of the UAW now gives his support to Mr. Regan. While cutting back the hours at DMV and in doing the jobs of DMV employees, isn’t this a form of union busting?

I can’t believe the unions and union people are willing to give their support to Mr. Regan’s campaign. When taxpayers view Mr. Regan’s actions to be of discrimination, misuse of county vehicles and wages while on county time along with some union busting, while taking credit for this he didn’t do.

When someone is fired or discharged without cause, it’s called grievance time. So when voting this fall, we ask all our union brothers and sisters to show your true union colors by winning back the wrongful firing of Mary Lou Rupp.

While restoring our St. Lawrence County Clerk with a qualified clerk that has passed the Civil Service Test and was working hard for all the taxpayers in St. Lawrence County.
