To the Editor:

Please vote for Mary Lou Rupp for St. Lawrence County Clerk. Unlike her opponent, Mary Lou Rupp has worked her way up; starting in the DMV, then First Deputy Clerk and Acting County Clerk after Pattie Ritchie was elected State Senator. Her opponent was appointed. But some of his palm cards requested the voters to re-elect him.

Mary Lou, acting County Clerk, worked with one Deputy Clerk and no Index Clerk. Naturally there should definitely be huge savings in the clerk’s department, as theses two positions were budgeted for the full year.

Mary Lou actually worked behind the counter in the DMV offices, when needed. Her opponent has little knowledge of any of the DMV procedures.

It was Mary Lou’s idea to travel to New York City to recruit more business.

Pertaining to the letter from Jim Race (Advance News, Oct. 16) Deputy Kathy Streeter’s husband, he makes no mention of the thousands of dollars revenue made for the county by our hard-working, dedicated DMV clerks. Mary Lou, with practical business experience, has and will continue to work the Big Savings and Big Revenue. The appointed person is interested in the small change, “penny wise and pound foolish.”

Vote for a candidate that has been in the trenches and knows first hand that the taxpayers of St. Lawrence County want the most for their hard earned money.

Please vote for the most qualified candidate: Mary Lou Rupp for St. Lawrence County Clerk.
