Rupp: common sense and not afraid to use it

To the Editor:

This letter is in regards to elect Mary Lou Rupp for St. Lawrence County Clerk. She started her St. Lawrence County career as a Department of Motor Vehicles clerk. She quickly moved up to the St. Lawrence County Deputy Clerk position and then as acting County Clerk within a few short years.

She gained her wealth of knowledge and experience from hard work, dedication and great teaching/coaching from superiors and co-workers. Her career advancement was fast, but not due to a political appointment by the New York State Governor.

Mary Lou is a kind and caring person, who quietly and professionally goes about taking care of St. Lawrence County citizen and taxpayer needs. She will continue to be a fair and just leader. No one should confuse Mary Lou’s calmness and quiet nature as being indecisive. She can and will make important decisions whether they are popular or not and she will do it with dignity.

Mary Lou has two other most useful characteristics: She can disagree without being disagreeable. She has ‘common sense’ and is not afraid to use it.

Both of the above are presently ‘under used’ at all levels of government. We support Mary Lou Rupp for St. Lawrence County Clerk and hope all of you will too.
