Return community to respectable condition, says Potsdam woman

To the Editor:

I have been reading objections to Mr. Robar’s exhibits around the town of Potsdam. I have always had an admiration of Potsdam; its colleges and its integrity up until now.

I think the displays are disgraceful and disgusting.

First of all, toilets were made for the elimination of human wastes. They were installed inside houses to replace outhouses. They were not made for vases for flowers or decorations of any sort. They are not furniture but were made as appliances for humans to use for personal, private purposes.

Now…Potsdam is considered a college town. The college brought great pride to the town. It became a great privilege to be called a “great college town.”

I do not think we want to think of Potsdam as the “toilet town.” This would be a total disgrace on my mailing address and on the residents and students of all schools and colleges plus all of the churches and businesses.

Potsdam town council and board members should take all of this into consideration and stop this inane disgrace from continuing. Stop Mr. Robar from this charade of being the bad guy and put Potsdam back into a respectable condition it was before this display.

Satisfy the people and admirers of Potsdam and not the man named Mr. Robar.
