To the Editor:

The 23rd Norwood Lake Regatta was a smashing success thanks to our major sponsor Pepsi Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers and over 50 businesses that advertised in program, the volunteers, organizers and the throng of spectators attending both days. The Eastern Watercross Association provided exciting snowmobile races that thrilled the crowd, although these races are considered an extreme sport, there were no serious injuries. Entire families attended and the youngsters had much fun in the bounce house and obstacle course while others used the slides and swings available at Norwood Beach. Volunteers were told, by those attending, what a great event the regatta is.

Congressman Bill Owens attended and officially opened the event. He met with the public and race drivers, where he commented he wished to attend next year and possibly ride on one of the race sleds. The Norwood Lake Association will use profits from the regatta to continue project’s that will benefit area residents. Other local organizations and businesses benefited by participating as well. Norwood Lake Association organizers have already started planning the 24th Norwood Lake Regatta to be held Aug. 24 and 25, 2013. There is a possibility the Norwood Lake Association will sponsor snowmobile races on the ice of Norwood Lake in February next year. Again, Thank you to all who assisted in any way to make this year’s regatta such a success. Will see all at the 24th.
