Remembering the 1960’s riots:

First there were three riots in May, all on Mother’s Day weekend. All after beer parties at Zeta Nu Fraternity on Main Street.

Second, the arrests of people in front of the local bar, tear gas was not used.

Third, there were not dozens of police. There were 14 officers from Potsdam Police Department. No state or County officers were there as they were not allowed in the village due to protocol.

Fourth, there were no high school students at the scene of the riots.

Five there were no students arrested at the scene. The only people arrested were riot mongers from out of the area. There were 13 and all were arrested.

For your information there were several students from college who assisted us at times to stop some students from getting involved. There is more to this, the article protected all the students. There is more information involved. I know as I was there and am now a retired police officer.
