To the Editor:

Tom and I are lifelong residents of St. Lawrence County. We have been involved in our community in a number of ways--sometimes a lot and sometimes not.

I think we are very typical of most St. Lawrence county people--hard working, responsible and down to earth, respectful of our neighbors.

When Gavin Regan was appointed County Clerk and there was an outpouring of viciousness in the papers, we were stunned. Where did all this meanness come from?

Later, we found out that was a good question--it seemed pretty orchestrated and it turns out it probably was.

We hope that those people in St. Lawrence County who make up the majority see what Regan has done and who he is.

He has done a great job as Clerk and deserves recognition and election in November.

He did not stoop to the level of his attackers. He remained civil and respectful. He just went about his business, saving the County dollars and smoothing out some of the cumbersome actions in the Clerk’s office.

If you want a County Clerk who is knowledgeable and talented to continue to bring fresh ideas and actions to the Clerk’s office, vote Gavin Regan in November! We will!
