To the Editor:
The Potsdam Recreation program provides a variety of activities for the children of our community. It is an employer for teen workers.
This is a classic win-win. Voters should support the program.
I am disappointed in the decision to have the vote open to property tax payers only.
While a renter’s name does not appear on the property tax rolls, they are surely paying for the property taxes as a part of their rent. Property owners include their costs, including taxes, into the monthly rent.
To exclude these voters sets a terrible example about civic participation in government.
