Raquette River management might have saved your camp

To the unknowledgeable writer of “Waterfront Flooding” which ran in the June 24 issue of North Country This Week: seven inches of rainfall within 4 days is a lot of water.

The ponds on the Raquette River were full before this rain event occurred as this river was in the middle of its spring run-off. Without proper river water management of this atypical event, you might have not only lost your dock but maybe your shoreline and possibly your camp.

Please be careful when you criticize professional judgement that not only answers to you, the public, but to federal and state government agencies for every decision that is made concerning how waterflows are regulated on this river.

Maybe instead of complaining that an act of nature interrupted your personal weekend plans, you should be praising these professionals for being there when you needed them to protect your property and investments.

Believe me when I say that every employee of Brookfield Power is trained to be a good steward of the river that you enjoy.
